In preparation for our Surfing Exhibit, opening this summer, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is proud to host the world premier of Absolute Mexico, a new surfing film directed by Josh Pomer and produced by Tim Hoover. Shot at a secret location in Oaxaca, Mexico, the film features local surfer Bobby Martinez and other top-notch surfers riding some of the longest barrels and biggest waves in the world. VIP World Premier tickets are $100 and will feature the first public screening of Absolute Mexico, a private cocktail party with the filmmakers and a special appearance by local surf legend Tom Curren. General Admission tickets for the 7:30 p.m. party are $50 and feature food and drinks, continuous screening of Absolute Mexico, and music by Tom Curren, Burleigh Skidmore, Tripdavon, and Bristow and Parsa. All proceeds from this special evening, including a tsunami of great Silent Auction items, will support the installment of the Museum’s Surfing Exhibit and the Oaxaca Surf Fund, which will purchase surf boards for the local children where Absolute Mexico was filmed.
