Yes, there were waves at Rincon Today (Thursday, June 7th)...
O.k., so it wasn't regulation Rincon, but I did manage to get wet this afternoon on the tail end of the most recent windswell. When I arrived to the parking lot (close to noon) I was surprised by the number of vehicles. Fortunately it was shift-change time, and the crowd thinned out quickly. The Cove was nicely protected from the wind, and there plenty of waist-to-chest-high waves to go around. The most surprising aspect was the sea temperature. Following the heavy blow that we've seen all week I expected that upwelling would have made the water very chilly. Much to my surprise it was the warmest I've felt since last Fall (low/mid 60's?), definitely trunkable if I'd brought a pair... I didn't bring my camera, so I've got no pics to share. However, I do have a killer shot courtesy of Towsurfer - Laird at Teahupoo to get your hearts pumping...

I was so on the fence to make a run to Rincon. Jon, I was going to give you a haller to hook up there, but just not in the cards. Decided it was too questionable. Surfed HB Pier in the afternoon. Glad you got wet. No doubt, the water was nice and warm. It is amazing with all the wind that the water temp is climbing. Look forward to how warm it will be with slack winds.
With summer upon us, OC begins to get fun, let me know if you are heading down here and will extend the same welcome mat you have offered!
