Are Septic Tanks Responsible for Water-Born Illnesses Amongst Surfers at Rincon?

Calling all Rincon Surf Blog Readers:

I received an interesting email today, an inquiry from a reporter who works for an international news service doing a story regarding the debate about septic tanks allegedly polluting the ocean in areas such as Malibu and Rincon Point. The reporter writes, "I'm just checking with surfers to see if you've ever become ill from surfing in local waters near areas that use septic tanks, or if you've ever smelled or seen any discharge. I've spoken with Heal the Bay, Heal the Ocean, the Surfrider Foundation, and other advocacy groups, but would like to hear from actual surfers about their experiences."

If anyone has a story to share that would be relevant to this article to be written, PLEASE email it to me as soon as possible, and I will forward it along to the reporter.  My email is RinconSurfBlog@gmail.com.

I know that most all of you have had at least one or more experiences related to this problem, so kindly share them and help us all in the fight for clean water.

Thanks in advance for your dilligence.

Sincerely,
--Jon Shafer
