Southern-Hemi Hype
For the past 10 days or so all of the major forecasting sites have been calling for a significant swell event for this the Labor Day holiday weekend. RSB readers have emailed in scattered reports, most noteworthy, head-high to 2' overhead surf down in Southern Ventura County. Dying to escape from the 90-degree+ temps here in Santa Barbara, I headed down to Rincon today if for no other reason than to cool of in the surf. Arriving close to noon, the high tide had already drowned out what little windswell energy there was. A couple of hours later there were some clean little knee- to wait-high zippers to be had in the cove. The SW groundswell is expected to peak tomorrow, so maybe a trip further South will be the call.
