In the Window; Fall Windswell Hits the Point

Fall Arrives, Feels Good

Throughout the day today the predicted NW windswell has been filling in.  Currently the swell model is showing a 6ft. swell coming in out the the North West (295°) -- right in the window for Rincon.  I managed to get out this morning for a couple of hours, and caught several nice waves in the waist- to shoulder-high range, a couple from the top of the cove all the way down to the callbox.  When I arrived (around 10:00 am) the tide was still pretty high, and there was a little morning sickness.  About an hour late it seemed to glass off for a bit, and was pretty fun.  Unfortunately I couldn't stay any longer.  The prospects for a morning session tomorrow are looking pretty good.

Does anyone recognize the board?? Nice little barrel.

Interesting Tidbit of Surf Knowledge

"Ancient Hawaiian legend tells of a man sharing a wave with a woman and then making love to her on the beach, as if riding the wave was a prelude to riding a woman. The ocean was also conceived to be feminine and the wave was a woman. Surfing was already sexual, an apparent enactment of coitus (intercourse) in its obsession with 'the tube'. Getting in the barrel was, in effect, coupling with the wave..."

Editor's note:  I know at least a few people who would say that surfing is better than sex!

Not Rincon, but another cool video from the 60's...
