C Street Contest - Day #1
Weak Swell, Wind, & High Tides Pose Challenge for Competitors
The morning session of day 1 posed a challenge for most surfers at the Ventura C St. contest today. Conditions were fair at best early on, and quickly deteriorated as the high tide choke off what little swell was working. Onshore wind started coming on at mid-morning as well, leaving little to be desired for contestants wanting to impress the judges. Several Rincon locals including the Milhollin twins (Shayne & Tyler) and Wayne Rich scored enough points in their heats to advance to tomorrow's finals. Hopefully that new Southern-Hemi will fill in overnight, and tomorrow will be better.
As pictured below, surfers did the best they could to make do with what little Mother Nature provided.

Sunday Afternoon Update
Sorry if I've disappointed anyone, but when I woke up this morning and checked the buoys and swell model, and then the Ventura Point surf cam, I decided not to make the trip down to Ventura Point again. Although all of the forecasters were calling for 3 - 4 foot surf, all I could see we more of the same -- little "ankle slappers", maybe knee-high at best... Once I get the final results I'll post them here. In the meantime, I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Below are a couple more images from Saturday.
