Exercise, Tee Shirts, and Flip Flops for a Good Cause!
If you make it to only one Surfrider event this year, make it the Paddle Out. What is the Paddle Out, you ask? It's a family-friendly, fun, educational, and participatory event held next to Stearn's Wharf. Shaun Tomson, former world champion surfer, writer and businessperson, will be joined by Pedro Nava, our State Assemblyman, to speak about protecting water quality. Then we will all hit the water for a paddle alongside the Wharf (about 15 minutes), culminating in a healing circle. Funds raised through this event go towards our education outreach programs, beach clean-ups, and other efforts to keep our water clean.
We encourage you to register (but can also just show up the day of the event with your board or floating device or come out just to support the cause!).
The registration form contains all of the event information. Just like last year, we have two levels:
(1) FREE PARTICIPANT
(2) SUPPORTER

We will be hosting an auction and a raffle this year as well. Special thanks goes to Paradise Planks http://www.paradiseplanks.com for their donation of a beautiful board, bag, leash, and fin set. The auction is open to everyone, and will take place right before the paddle so the winner can take out his/her new board. If you don’t win the auction, Marcus of Paradise Planks will be there to show you some of his other boards as well.

Surf Report & Forecast
Reports from this past weekend were positive, namely that the combination of NW windswell and moderate Southern-Hemi energy resulted in quality sessions, the standouts being the areas of southern Ventura County and Jalama. Even today there was still a decent amount of swell in the water. Morning sessions saw perfect glassy conditions, and the evening was still pretty good in wind-protected areas. The swell is predicted to diminish overnight and continue to fade throughout the week....
