1) PADDLE OUR FOR CLEAN WATER THIS SATURDAY, SEPT 29, STEARNS WHARF, NOON
Paddle out with Santa Barbara Chapter Surfrider Foundation this Saturday at Stearns Wharf noon. In addition to the PADDLE OUT, the event will include a major raffle (grand prize longboard) and presentations by guest speakers Shaun Tomson, 1977 World Surfing Champion, and Pedro Nava, State Assembly Representative and former Coastal Commissioner. ”TURN THE TIDE ON OCEAN POLLUTION”

2) CHAPTER MEETING OCTOBER 4, 7PM, WATERSHED RESOURCE CENTER
Surfrider Foundation Santa Barbara Chapter is excited to host guest speaker, Valerie Olson, President of the More Mesa Preservation Coalition at our general meeting October 11 at the Watershed Resource Center. She will present a wonderful slide show and talk about More Mesa and preservation efforts. Food beverages provided. Updates on surfrider issues.

3) CREEK WEEK IS OCTOBER 6-14, GREAT EVENTS!
Creek Week is an annual series of events which highlight our local creeks and watersheds and the many ways to enjoy, restore and protect them. Check out the great events calendar!! WOW!

4) SURFRIDER SPONSORS TGIF AT EDC OCTOBER 12
Come to the TGIF FALL FEAST party at EDC and help Surfrider show its support for EDC and have a great time. There will be delicious food from Big Easy Catering, wine and beer, live music, a raffle with great prizes and the opportunity to meet and chat with activists in the environmental community here in Santa Barbara. The event is being jointly sponsored by our chapter, GOO and the UCSB COASTAL FUND It runs from 5:30-7:30 and tickets cost $15. Make sure to bring some spare cash to buy raffle tickets.

6) NO BUTTS LEFT BEHIND CAMPAIGN
The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department project addresses the problem of cigarette butt litter in our county. In California, an estimated 4,125 tons of cigarettes are discarded annually. Cigarette butts are the most common item collected during beach clean-ups. If you want to learn more about a project working to eliminate cigarette butt litter and/or get involved call the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department at 681-5407 or 346-7275.
