Bobby Martinez Wins WCT Event in Spain
Santa Barbara Surfer Beats Taj Burrow to Capture Billabong Pro Mundaka Title

Santa Barbara's Bobby Martinez won the Billabong Pro Mundaka title in Spain by less than three-tenths of a point over Australia's Taj Burrow, the world's No. 3-ranked surfer. The victory, which Martinez called "a dream come true", vaults him from 13th to sixth in the world rankings!

Surf at Rincon Point Continues to Pump Through Weekend
Light Crowds Leave Weekend Surfers Stoked! October 2007 Helping Surfers Forget Last Winter
Without much hype or fanfare, surfers at Rincon Point scored outstanding sessions all weekend long. Saturday from late morning produced solid and consistent chest- to head-high lines, with all areas of the point doing their thing. I got a late start myself, arriving at the parking lot at around 2:15 pm. As soon as I walked down the trail I could see that I was in for a good session. The cove was breaking, but a little crowded, so I headed up to the Rivermouth where it was breaking pretty much top to bottom. After catching a few there I paddled on up to Indicator where for two hours straight several of us were treated to clean and outstanding consistent regulation Rincon. At one point I caught a wave all the way down the point past the rivermouth, and decided to finish the session in the cove. By late afternoon the tide was really low, which made for some outstanding fun and fast chest-high zippers. The crowd had really thinned out by the time the sun began to set. Who says you can't surf Rincon on the weekend?
While I didn't get out again myself on sunday, I received several reports that the swell was even bigger and better than saturday. "Super-fast, and a foot or so overhead on the sets!"
As of this moment several Pacific storms are slamming into to California Coast. The prospects for surf this week would be promising but for the likelihood of high winds. We'll just have to wait and see what happens...
Don't forget the hearing at the Carpinteria Sanitary District tomorrow afternoon. Be there!

Don't forget the hearing at the Carpinteria Sanitary District tomorrow afternoon. Be there!

Sunday was ridiculous. I had CRAP session at C street in the morning, and was driving back to SB with my tail b/t my legs. I passed La Conchita and went "Damn! Rincon's BREAKING. And *no one's* out" I screeched into the lot, slapped on the cold wetsuit and was #5 in the H20...at least for the first half hour. It was perfect. Lined up. Reeling. Azure blue. Glassy. Good times. Sorry you missed it!
P.S. LOVE your site.
Don't you just love it when you find great waves that break under the radar of the surf forecasters??
Thanks for the positive feedback.
Glad you enjoy the site!
Hope to see you in the water!!
