Where Are The Waves?
October Begins With a Boom
And End With a Bust....
Today marks the first day of November, and technically speaking, the official opening of the Winter surf season on the West Coast. Yeah, we usually get waves in October, and usually the final groundswells of the season arrive in March, but November through February is the quarter that Rincon surfers live for. This past week has been really quiet at the point, and there is nothing remarkable on the horizon - at least in terms of North Pacific energy. There is a sizeable and unseasonable Southern-Hemi predicted for next week, but this should have little impact on our section of the coast. In the meantime, all we can do is make plans to travel or reflect on sessions from seasons past...
Something else that locals might be interested in is first ever SURF SWAP MEET being held this coming Saturday, November 3, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, at the Santa Barbara City College parking lot across from Leadbetter Beach. For a nominal fee, sellers can unload unwanted equipment such as surfboards, wetsuits, skateboards, leashes, ...etc., and make some money at the same time! Go to the Surf Swap Meet to check out the boards for sale, pick up some quality pre-owned surf gear for bargain prices, or just go to simply hang out with friends. You won't have to worry about missing any waves, because there won't be any... Be sure to arrive early for the best deals! This event is co-sponsored by the Santa Barbara Surf Club, and all proceeds from stall rentals will benefit SBCC Women’s Basketball. Call (805)687-0455 or email SB Surf Swap Meet to pre-register and for more information.

Ok that is the sickest wave I have seen in ages, those guy are hellmen and more, chopes is one of them waves I am going to si in a boat and watch one day, no way I would ever charge that tho! one more time SICK!!!!
I couldn't agree with you more. Now that my twins will be heading off to college next year, and my wife and I will be "empty nesters" there is a chance we could travel to Tahiti and do just that. In the meantime, I'm getting my boat ready for the run to Maverick's, hoping to anchor in the channel on an XXL day and shoot a few gigabytes worth...
Thanks for the comment, Adam!
