Weekend Surfers Score, But...
High Tides, Big Crowds, Thick Fog & Long Lulls Dampen Stoke a Bit...
As expected, a moderate West swell hit the coast over the weekend, much to the delight of the surf-starved. All weekend long high tides were a factor, but thanks to the buildup of sandbars along Rincon Point, it was not at all mushy. Sunday was definitely bigger and better than Saturday, with waves mostly in the chest- to head-high range. Unfortunately, the crowd factor came along with the better surf, so individual wave counts suffered. The biggest disappointment were the long lulls between the 'sets' if you could call them that. Most sets consisted of just one wave... Water temps have definitely fallen over the past month. Whereas around last Thanksgiving the water was still above 60 degrees, this year's La Niña has brought much cooler water 58 degree water. 4/3mm wetsuits are suggested for those extended sessions...

Look for continued moderate surf as several pulses are predicted to hit the coast throughout the coming week.

I believe the surfer riding the CI is Mike Walters, local ripper and I think the long boarder, cheater 5 is Ventura loc Kevin Givner. Thought this info might be useful. See you in the water.
