Building an Online Community

Announcing the Santa Barbara Surfer Online Community

Recognizing a need for better communication as well as a forum or an online "Town Hall" setting for local surfers to share their experiences, I am pleased to announce the advent of Santa Barbara Surfer.

The Santa Barbara Surfing Community is about as diverse as any.  Young and old, shortboard and longboard, today's surfers are finding new ways to connect not only to the ocean, but to each other, and that's where this new venture falls in.

Very different from the "blog" format, a message board/discussion forum provides an opportunity for each and every one of you to have a voice, share photos, experiences, concerns, you name it.  Membership and registration are completely free of charge.  Participation is entirely optional; feel free to simply "lurk" and read what your fellow surfers have written.  If you have any announcements whatsoever, if you have something surf-related to share, I encourage you to join the community, and let us all get to know you better.

Visit www.santabarbarasurfer.com and register today!

Jon, when I hit the link, too many characters come up. When I delete the extra characters, after .com it works.

Thanks Jed.  It was a coding error.  Fixed it!  Happy Thanksgiving...

Hey Jon your site is fantastic but I am not telling any of my Bu Buddies about it. The Santa Barbara Forum is cool too. Checkout www.2ndlight.com I'm from Fla and go back to this site to see what is up with my community. It is fantastic. I tried to do one in malibu but...no go. Maybe after people see the SB one they will understand.

      Hey Diane,

Glad you like the site!  It's a lot of work, but well worth it.

You can't surf all of the time, so it's good to stay connected even when it's flat...

The Florida site looks killer, btw.

Come hang out up at Rincon some time - great crew up here...

      Aloha,
      --Jon
