A long weekend of solid windswell brought the Queen out of hibernation much to the delight of wave-starved surfers.  While Saturday was bigger overall, it was also a bit choppier.  Sunday morning things really cleaned up - just in time for local Shaun Tomson to take some time off from his busy schedule for recreation...








Some 30 years after a world championship, Shaun's still carving it up at Rincon...

Southern-hemi swell energy is forecast for the upcoming week, unfortunately, it won't mean much for Rincon surfers...

Have you ever been watching a surf DVD and you see some pro bust off the lip, land on some awkward angle with his body bent backwards into the white-wash and yet some how he recovers and manages to stay on his board.

Don’t you wish you could do that? That sort of recovery requires an insanely high level of core strength and balance. Lucky for us, you can actually train to increase your balance and in turn improve your surfing.

Rincon Septic-to-Sewer Battle Still Raging On

Just when you thought it was safe to finally declare this seemingly endless battle over, the opponents, bolstered by the money and efforts of primarily non-local/outsiders are keeping the resistance going -- all at the true expense of those of us who actually spend time in the water there.  According to an article in this week's Santa Barbara News-Press, the most recent of several votes in favor of the conversion is now under scrutiny, and a member of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors (Brooks Firestone) is suggesting that the District Attorney investigate allegations of voter intimidation.  Combined with Brooks' recent proposal of parking fees at Rincon, one can only wonder what next to expect from this elected official...

Lost & Found

pope from www.santabarbarasurfing.com reports that he found an iPod in the Rincon parking lot Saturday morning.  Send him an email, identify yourself as the owner, and describe the unit, and you'll get it back...
