In an effort to beat the heat if even just for a little while, I took the morning off today and headed North. When I left Santa Barbara the thermometer in my car register 94 degrees. As I passed through an unnamed coastal valley, it jumped to a blistering 104, and finally setlled back to a reasonable 80 when I hit the coast North of Point Conception. When I arrived the wind was already blowing a bit, but that didn't deter a group of local SB rippers from tearing apart the 3-5 surf that was hitting the beach. I only had a couple of hours to spare, so I headed back to SB at noon. On the road back to Hwy 1 the thermometer topped out at an astounding 113 degrees Farenheit. If you get a chance to head either North or South over the next couple of days, you won't be disappointed!
