A State of Emergency as Local Shaping Legend Dave Johnson and Hundreds of Other Santa Barbara Residents Lose Their Homes

So-Called 'Tea Fire' Rains Embers & Destroys Property Affecting Thousands
"Dave and Jen's Johnson's home burned down last night. We need to pray for Dave & Jen and just be there for them in their time off loss. Let's all help meet their needs. They are truely two very loving & real people who always go out of their way FOR us. Unfortunately Confirmed, He called me this morning with the sad news. He SAID he will be at his shop in a few hours, " said poster "Brett" who is a member as reported on www.SantaBarbaraSurfer.com.
** CALLING ALL SANTA BARBARA AREA SURFERS **
As editor of Rincon Surf Blog, I am asking that we all as members of the community come together on behalf of The Johnson family. Some of you may recall that DJ had to deal with similar trauma and adversity a few years ago when a fire consumed his entire surfboard production operation. Rebounding a second time will be overwhelmingly stressful.
The Johnson Family will need cash money and food and who knows what else. Most importantly they need emotional support in facing this crisis and is paramount -- right now.
Stay tuned to www.santabarbarasurfer.com as I will work to recruit other concerned individuals who are wanting to reach out to Dave and other victims. Please sign up if you would like to help.

With humidity in the low teens, temperatures in the 80's, and fierce Santa Ana winds forecast for this afternoon, we are very far from being out of the woods...
A couple of more shots from last night below.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by this tragic fire...

Sorry to hear about the fire. I was burned out in The Sycamore Fire. Live on Banana Road for 28 years. All my best to the fire victims and especially Dave, made me some great boards over the years!!

People knew this would happen. We have been waiting for "the big one" and residents have been warned to keep vegetation away 100 feet. About time some one learned a lesson... I hope.
I hear you taylor, but this may not be the place for your "I told you so"... we're talking about a bro who lost his home...
Dave, our thoughts and prayers are with you...
