Final Pre-Contest Update: Rincon Classic is Game On! (Updated)

2009 Edition of Rincon Classic Only 2 Days Away

A major swell event that has been charging across the Pacific Ocean for the past week is for once favoring the West Coast over the Hawaiian Islands.  Two major big-wave contests, one at the notorious tow-surfing spot Jaws on Maui and another on the North Shore of Oahu have called off their events due to unfavorable weather conditions, while California's prestigious Maverick's Contest and our own Rincon Classic figure to be the unlikely beneficiaries of the dominant high pressure dome that has been keeping us in Santa Ana conditions for most of this Winter.  The last time that I heard from Chris Keet (yesterday), the organizer of the Classic he was beyond enthusiastic.  "We are all systems go here with double overhead glassy conditions with 75 degree weather predicted..blessed!"
Of course, swells generally fail to live up to forecast hype, but no matter what, contestants and spectators alike are in for a real treat this coming weekend at The 'Con.
