Ryan Lovelace, Inbue Surf Film, Sharing the Stoke II

When You're Hot, You're Hot

Santa Barbara has a long history of local surfboard building legends.  Rennie Yater, George Greenough, John Bradbury, Al Merrick et al - a virtual who's who of the most influential shapers of all time.  With such firmly entrenched board-building establishment, it's not too often that a virtual unknown, let alone a 22-year-old can break through and make a name for himself.  People are really beginning to take notice of Ryan Lovelace.  Producing old-school designs and focusing on hulls and fish, Ryan's Pt. Concept brand is gaining recognition in both the local community and beyond.  A recent Edhat.com article by SantaBarbaraSurfing.com's Paul Costales does a great job of telling Ryan's story.  Ryan also maintains a very cool blog where his customers can follow the progress of their boards through each stage of production called PC Progress.  Ryan's latest creations are called the "She Hull" and the "Vampire Hull".  Check out this cool Vampire Hull article on the Grass is Greener Project Website.  Lastly, Ryan is offering some killer deals for new customers like the very popular "She Hull" .  Click here for more information.

Inbue Surf Film

"Inbue was shot between the years of 1958 and 1984 on 8 and 16mm film by Manuel Cheverez. It was edited by hand in 2007, Giving us this rough retelling of a time when you could drive right up to the water, and surf all day long.

This movie has rare footage of the surfers who paved the way for all surfers today.

Most of the film is taken in the greater Santa Barbara area, but also goes as far as the Chanel Islands, and Hawaii."
