Flat in Town, But Fun Surf Found Nearby

The Southern Hemisphere has been pretty active lately, sending a steady pulse our way for the past couple of weeks, Whether travelling North or South, surfers have been scoring some pretty fun surf - particularly in the early-morning and late-afternoon sessions.  Sea surface conditions have been clean and glassy on the tail ends of the day...


Don't Look Now, but He May Be Back
Several key indicators point towards return of warm water phenomenon later this Summer



You are not likely to hear this on your evening news just yet, but observations of sea surface temperature anomalies are strongly suggesting that El Niño will be making a return to the Pacific in the coming months, which is great news for surfers - especially considering the lack of potent swells the past year and a half.  I am going to stick my neck out and predict that by late July / early August NOAA will issue a formal statement confirming the shift to the warm-water side of El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
